Organic Basics is a Danish apparel company rooted in environmental responsibility.
When I joined Organic Basics the product team was myself and Lauria, who was interning at the time. During my tenure I have been integral in building the robust six people product team Organic Basics have in place today, including Lauria, who is now one of the designers.
In addition to this, I have played a key role in developing the values foundation of how Organic Basics products are built, which includes: Prioritising local and short supply chains, European and Turkish grown certified organic and certified recycled fibers and European and Turkish production, that is also certified.
I have promoted a focus on organic fibers and a commitment to only use synthetic fibers when there is no viable organic alternative. When synthetic fibers are used, certified recycled are favoured. I also spearheaded a focus on not mixing fibers that can not be separated for recycling.
Building partnerships and collaborations has been an important part of my role - both with spinners, mills and manufacturers and with partners like the Ellen MacArthur foundation.
As has education of customers and partners on best practices for apparel use, care and recycling.
My contribution to Organic Basics is to make products that are built to last, to be repaired and recycled - and have the least negative impact on the environment possible.
